I pray you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We worked, as it isn't an Indian holiday. But we talked about the holiday and what it meant. Plus we shared some of the foods. Most foods are completely unknown to the folks in our class. They did say they had mashed potatoes. But with all the spices and sauces they use for potatoes I'm not really sure it is the same. If anyone took actual pictures of the Thanksgiving table, would you send them to me, so I can share with them?
Our waiter for dinner came up to us and said Happy Thanksgiving, do you have a present for me? We explained there wasn't presents just Turkey and food. He was disappointed, as I guess there was turkey on the buffet that night. (We don't get a chance to eat actual dinner there, because we are on our way to work. So our dinner is actually the hotel's breakfast). Anyway, he probably tried the turkey and didn't understand the big deal about it. Most of the Indian people are vegetarians, so he may not have even tried it.
All the food here is more than just a plain anything! I'm sure they do not see the enjoyment in most of our dishes. I invited my friends from church here to go to an Italian restaurant with me after church one Sunday. They looked at me in surprise and asked if they would like me to take them to a good Chinese place instead. I have asked a few others, and no one I have asked liked or has even tried Italian food! Sorry Jimmy!!
:)
Oh well, I'm finding enough food to eat here so I'm not wasting away! :)
