After 16 hours international flight, 6 hours layover at Ohara and 4 hours flight to Palm Springs I am now home!
It was wonderful at Ohara because as our plane was taxing up to the gate I could see some Christmas decorations through the windows. The airport was lovely! But no... I was too tired to think of taking any pictures.
Julie's flight left about 7:00 ish (AM) so we went right to the gate after picking up our bags (HEAVY), going through immigration and then customs. We had to take the tram from the international terminal to the commercial terminal and go back through security all over again. There went my new bottle of water! :)
We sat down at gate K2 and I ran over to get coffee-flavored coffee for her and a real "Decaf" for me. I was planning on going to McDonalds but saw Dunkin Donuts!! They also had glazed donuts with Christmas Icing. I got one red and one green. Took it back to K2 and Julie and I had our official Christmas exchange. Nope it may not have been the Cheesebuger (for Julie) and the fresh salad (for me) as we had planned when we got to Ohara. But that real coffee was PERFECT!
After Julie's flight left I went up to see if I could upgrade. I couldn't but when she saw that I had flown business class to Ohara she gave me an invite to the Admiral's club. It's like a private club area for American Airline. You pay an annual fee based on your AA milage. That was a blessing because I went up there, had some hot chocolate, a Perrier with ICE, and a shower! My flight to Palm Springs was delayed due to weather (I wasn't surprised). But being in the Admiral's club made it wonderful. There was a lot of places to sit and relax.
Jim & Ryan surprised me! They put up a Christmas tree and bough red garland, red lights and red ornaments with a giant red bow for the top. An all red tree! Now I have to open up my suitcase and pull out all the presents I got for everyone and wrap them. I haven't seen any wrapping paper around so looks like I'll go out and get some.
I got home Monday about 5:00 PM was asleep by 7:00 and have been sleeping most of Tuesday. I would cat nap for 30 minutes then work, sleep, work, sleep work. So now it is just about 3:00 am in the morning and I'm wide awake. I mean, after all, it's night, I should be at work! My hat certainly goes out to all those who work the graveyard shift. I don't know how you do it for a long time.
Hey all - please post comments. It will make the blog a great memory of the trip hearing from those of you in India and those of you in the states. Your thoughts, reactions, opinions about the pictures or the blog items would make this a lot of fun for me.
Look back at the posts, I would love to hear from you.
