National Museum
Saturday Note: This posting finally showed up in draft. I'm going to to ahead and post.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sunday afternoon we went to the museum. I'm in the process of uploading all the pictures to the online album, but seem to be having some issues. I think the wireless connection keeps going down. I'll post when I get them all there.
It is a wonderful museum. Julie and I were both amazed at how available the ancient pieces are. Some were not even behind any glass. We had an absolutely wonderful time! We got some players which had extra information on 55 of the items.
This picture was taken in the exhibit of weapons and armor. They had this real sized elephant wearing the ancient armor as if it were during that time.
We haven't seen any elephants in this area. But there is a place just about a 1/2 block from the hotel where we have seen camels twice. We are rarely driving about during daylight hours because we are working nights. But I am determined to get more pictures. Sad thing is I burned up my charger. I keep forgetting that the power in the outlets are 220 instead of 110. So when the battery went out in my cameral, I put it in the charger. :( That was the end. I'm going to see if I can find AA batteries here so I can continue to take pictures. If not, then I'll buy a new camera. My daughter doesn't like the pictures this one takes anyway. So... this might be an good reason to get a new one.
Sunday after the museum we went with one of the girls from the office to a shopping area. It is much the same type as the LA Market area (LA = Los Angeles in my world). TONS of vendors. I got a couple bangles for gifts and then found the shoe store! ! Jim, honey... you'll be glad to know I only bought two pairs of sandals. :)
I have been attending a church the while here, and the Pastor came to visit me today. What a wonderful man! He started the church 3 years ago, and they already have two services. He as asked if I would do a Saturday conference for their young people. I have agreed. This church has a vision to build schools for children. Pastor and his wife both came from extreme poverty, and understand the need. They are delightful people! I am glad to spend time with them while I am here.
Well, I had better get some sleep, I have to work tonight!
